Domaine David Lefort
Burgundy
David Lefort is a relatively young upstart in his mid-30s, with no formal training or family history in winemaking. He holds a philosophy degree and takes a holistic approach to his vineyard sources and winemaking. He began purchasing under utilized and under appreciated plots in Rully and Mercurey about a decade ago, restoring neglected sites without fertilizers or sprays. His approach in the cellar can be described as minimal – he shepherds the wines through fermentation in mostly neutral barrels with oak to round out some angels. He does play with terracotta vessels with some cuvees and hopes to fold this into his style in the future. His cellar, immaculately maintained and rather small, will be renovated and enlarged in the coming years.
Wines

Mercurey 1er Cru Champs Martin
Champs Martin is one of the most prized vineyards in Mercurey, with a southwestern exposure and long even slope producing consistently good vintages for those growing there.

Domaine David Lefort Rully La Chaume
One of the first wines David began producing, starting in 2013. Sourced from two hectares in Rully, the site displays a duality below prime ripening exposure and a microclimate that favors cooling winds. The result is a surprising amount of balance and freshness that permeats vintage to vintage.
